African Kazuri Beads
Kazuri Beads are painstakingly formed, painted, and glazed by hand, creating one-of-a-kind
beads each and every time. Clay is brought down from Mt. Kenya, and each bead is shaped
by hand and subjected to several kiln firings. After the bead has gone from "green ware"
to “bisque”, it is hand painted. Some are brushed with 14 K gold. The bead is then fired
again, glazed, and re-fired in an electric kiln. The resulting variations in color and
shape are part of the uniqueness and beauty of these wonderful beads.
Kazuri means "small and beautiful."
